College Student Hands Over Mobile To Fellow Passengers, Jumps Off Bridge

Swimmers searching for the body in Seedi river - Sakshi Post

An intermediate second year student, got down from the auto near a bridge, gave his mobile to fellow passengers and jumped into the Seedi river. Though expert swimmers were brought in, the body of the boy could not be retrieved till late on Friday night.

This shocking incident occurred in Srikakulam district's Pathapatnam on Friday afternoon. Kanupuru Pawan Kumar (17), a second year Intermediate student, from Harijan Street, left home saying he would go to the college. He went to the college, spoke to few of his friends and then boarded a three-wheeler. As the auto reached the bridge on Seedi river, he gave his mobile to other passengers and jumped into the river.

Shocked passengers gathered their wits and called the police. The police, local youths and expert swimmers searched all through the day, but the body could not be retrieved. Pawan's father Joga Rao and mother Pushpa are daily wagers. The reason for the extreme act is not known.

The police are investigating.
