Coastal Cleanup Day observed

The 29th International Coastal Cleanup Day was observed jointly in Vizag by the Eastern Naval Command (ENC), the Coast Guard and several voluntary agencies.

It was flagged off by Chief of Staff, ENC Vice Admiral Bimal Verma at Kursura Submarine Museum. Cleaning up was done at Ramakrishna beach, Tenneti Park, Rushikonda beach, Kalinga beach and Yerada beach. Social organisations like the consumer protection council, Lions Club, NSS Wing of Andhra University, Papa Home, Century Club and others participated in the drive.

In Puducherry, chief minister N Rangasamy kick-started International Coastal clean up programme. The Indian Coast Guard Station, Local Administration Department of Puducherry, National Service Scheme and Puducherry Coastal Zone Management Authority took part in the programme.
