CM's house gearing up to counter terror attack
Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy is all set to get bullet-proof glass worth Rs 60 lakhs fixed at his house in Begumpet. The CM will also receive mine-proof vehicles worth Rs 2.5 crore.
According to reliable sources, the Andhra Pradesh chief minister has got a nod to buy two mine-proof cars following a possible terror threat.
Presently, the chief minister's convoy has two bullet-proof 'Toyota Fortuners' and they will now be replaced by two 'Toyota Prado' mine-proof vehicles.
It is learnt that three episodes in the recent past are indicators of a possible threat to CM's life.
- Explosive devices were found at his native district Chitoor
- The CM's Vizag trip was targeted by Maoists
- Two persons were found in CM's airplane under mysterious circumstances
These incidents have promoted the state government to procure bullet-proof glass and mine-proof vehicles for CM as part of the security.
Intelligence believe that the CM's camp office is located in the hub of the city, making it an easy target for miscreants. Thus the police and the government decided to make it a secure place. The plan of procuring mine-proof vehicles was decided last month itself. However, the decision to get a bullet proof-glasses fixed at CM's residence was taken today, sources said.
