CM KCR Lays Foundation For Kakatiya Mega Textile Park At Warangal

Warangal: Unveiling the road map for development of the weaving community and other related trades in Telangana, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on Sunday inaugurated the works on the proposed Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP) by laying the foundation stone here.

Speaking on the occasion, CM said the ambitious Rs1,150 crore mega textile park will have world class capabilities to produce all varieties of fabric under one roof and will provide 27,000 jobs directly and over 50,000 indirectly.

The project, which is aimed at providing employment to locals and handloom weavers from Warangal, will come up on a sprawling 1,190 acre campus. The Park site is located between Geesukonda and Sangem mandals in Warangal (Rural) district. The mega Textile Park is expected to attract investments to the tune of at least Rs11,500 crore and provide direct or indirect employment to 1.13 lakh people.

The Textile Park, one of the election promises of the Chief Minister, is aimed at facilitating reverse migration of handloom weavers. KCR called upon the weavers migrated to Surat, Biwandi and Sholapur for work to come back to their native villages in the region as the Park can provide employment to them.

Industries Minister KT Rama Rao who also participated in the programme said Rs3,900 worth MoUs were entered into with major textile industries to set up their units in the Park. He promised jobs to the families who parted with their lands for the project which is scheduled to be operational in 12 months.


The government acquired 1,190 acres of land for the park. Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari thanked the farmers who parted with their lands and officials and public representatives who facilitated the land acquisition. Speaker S. Madhusudhanachari, Finance Minister Etela Rajender, R&B Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao, MLAs, MLCs and MPs of the region participated.
