CM inaugurates Kakatiya festival

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday inaugurated a special festival that marks the glory of erstwhile Kakatiya dynasty. The Kakatiya kingdom had spread across many parts of the Telugu-speaking

region with its capital based in Warangal. Speaking on the occasion of inaugurating 'Kakatiya Utsavalu', the chief minister announced that Warangal will be expanded and developed as 'Greater Warangal'. He praised the Kakatiya dynasty as being the finest administrators in history. Union Tourism Minister K.Chiranjeevi, who also attended the programme, said Warangal district will be made part of the tourism circuit which will help in generating employment. The CM earlier inaugurated a reservoir at Bommakuru village in the district. Meanwhile, Telangana supporters protested against Reddy's visit to Warangal. Some of them allegedly threw stones at the Chief Minister's convoy and were taken into custody by police.
