Class 10 Boy Undergoes Surgery After Teacher Hits With Duster

Hyderabad: Suresh Kumar, a class 10 student, suffered internal head injuries after his teacher hit him with duster on his head following which he had to undergo a surgery on Wednesday to clear the blood clot and has been put on ventilator.

Jagadgirigutta SI G Murali Kumar said that the incident happened on Tuesday wherein the boy attended classes after few days as he was taken ill.

The teacher asked him to pay fine of Rs 500 for being absent, when Suresh sought time to pay the fine the teacher got furious and hit him on head following which he collapsed, added Kumar.

Meanwhile, the school management has denied allegations and said that the boy was already suffering with health issues. However, victim's father rued that his son was in good health and it is because of teacher’s assault that he suffered an injury. The victim is a native of Bihar.

Jagadgirigutta police filed a case against the erring teacher Ramadevi of Rajadhani School at Asbestos Colony for violent act. A case under section 324 of the IPC and section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act has been lodged against the teacher.

The SI added that they will also inquire whether the boy had any previous problems and will probe into the matter.

Child rights NGO took up the issue to Medchal district education officer (DEO) Usharani. The DEO has directed Kukatpally MEO M Laxmaiah to conduct an inquiry and submit a report on Thursday and basing on the report action will be taken for the incident.
