CI Suspended For Sexually Harassing Dowry Victim  

Manchiryala: The Circle Inspector (CI) of Police at Manchiryala Mahila Police Station P. Balaraju has been suspended for sexually harassing a woman on Monday.

Karimnagar Range DIG Ravi Varma issued the orders suspending Balaraju following an inquiry into the allegations against him. The CI was found guilty of sexually harassing a woman who approached the police in a dowry harassment case some time ago. There were several complaints against Balaraju that he harassed women colleagues in the police station itself.

The woman in question approached the Mahila Police Station complaining that her husband was subjecting her to torture demanding dowry. The CI who took up the case and counselled the couple, later started calling her and pressurized her to give in to his sexual desires.

On the woman's complaint against Balaraju, Ramagundam police commissioner Vikramjit Duggal appointed woman police official Kavitha to inquire. She examined the phone calls made by Balaraju and confirmed his overtures. Based on the inquiry report, Balaraju was suspended with immediate effect.
