Chittoor: Garuda hits diesel tanker, kills five
In a tragic accident, five persons were charred to death when a APSRTC Garuda bus caught fire early hours of Saturday in Chittoor district.
The bus caught fire after it hit a lorry near Sangili on the Karnataka-Andhra Pradesh border in Chittoor district.
According to reports, the diesel tanker caught fire after the bus hit from behind. The fire eventually spread to the bus killing three passengers including bus driver on the spot, reports said.
Two other passengers died on the way to hospital. As many as 30 persons suffered minor injuries. The bus was carrying 43 passengers.
The bus coming from Bangalore and heading towards Tirupati at the time of accident.
The truck was completely destroyed in the fire. Three fire tenders were rushed to the spot and doused the flames in 45 minutes. A case has been filed.
