Chandrababu's vote goes waste

Being the two-time chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, and the main opposition leader, one would expect TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu to be aware of the rules governing elections. However on Wednesday, his over enthusiasm rendered his vote null and void.

Before elections, TDP went in for alliance with BJP, which meant that at Jubilee Hills area he had to vote for BJP member.

After exercising his franchise, he revealed to the public that he voted for BJP, and also said that today people are keen to see Modi become the Prime Minister.  (Why is KCR's vote costly?)

As per EC guidelines, voters should not disclose which party they voted for as it may influence others. But Chandrababu did not pay heed to this very important rule.

Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal, however did pay attention to Chandrababu's gaffe and promptly announced that promptly announced that the TDP chief's vote will not be counted.  "Secrecy of vote has to be maintained whoever may be the great person. Every voter has to maintain secrecy as it comes under the conduct of elections rules," he asserted. (Balayya disobeys EC rules?)

Is this a deliberate attempt by Chandrababu to see that his vote doesn't go for BJP?
