Chandrababu's Singapore promise turns sour
Remember the tall promises made by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu? He almost promised moon to the people saying he will soon turn AP into Singapore.
At a time Chandrababu is facing flak from the farming community for not waiving off crop loans, Singapore’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam in his recent visit to Andhra Pradesh made some revelations which have triggered a debate in TDP circles.
The Singapore minister said that it took 40 years to develop Singapore and that it has developed with lot of sacrifices by the people and a lot of hard work. Shanmugam also said that Singapore is smaller than Hyderabad geographically.
After the minister made this revelations, Chandrababu's tall claims of turning AP into Singapore have become subject of utter ridicule even by critics and analysts.
Their question is if a place that smaller than Hyderabad took 40 years to develop, how many years Andhra Pradesh would take as it is ten times bigger?.
The Singapore foreign minister indirectly hinted that the people should be prepared for the sacrifices and that it is not as easy as our politicians portray. Now, it remains to be seen how long it would take for AP to become Singapore.
