Chandrababu Naidu should resign from Assembly: YSRCP - Sakshi Post

Former legislator and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Adusumilli Jaya Prakash on Friday asked TDP President Chandrababu Naidu to resign his Assembly seat to express solidarity with the ongoing united Andhra Pradesh agitation. Though some of the TDP legislators have resigned their Assembly seats in support of a unified state, Naidu has not done so yet, he said while talking to reporters in Vijayawada.

The Leader of Opposition should quit his Assembly seat to protect the interests of Seemandhra people, Prakash said. The TDP leader has adopted double standards on the Telangana issue.

Naidu had openly supported unified AP on the floor of the Assembly in February 2005. But in December 2009, the former Chief Minister changed his stand and asked the Congress to introduce the Telangana Bill and pledged his support for it, the YSR Congress leader said. A united Andhra Pradesh was the basic principle of the TDP founder N T Rama Rao but it was altered by Naidu, he charged.

Meanwhile, YSR Congress leaders and former legislators S Udaya Bhanu and Jaleel Khan said that Vijayamma decided to go on a hunger strike only to protect the interests of the people of Seemandhra (Rayalaseema and non-Telangana regions) by not allowing the Congress to bifurcate the state.

Two party MLAs -- Amaranatha Reddy and K Srinivasulu are already on hunger strike in their respective constituencies, Rajampeta and Kodur in Kadapa district, against the division of Andhra Pradesh. Eleven supporters of Srinivasulu have also joined him in his fast.
