Hyderabad: The TDP would forge alliance with a political party in Telangana in the run-up to 2019 elections, said TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. He, however, clarified that the party would decide over the coalition at an appropriate time. Chandrababu spoke to media persons after a meeting with Telangana TDP leaders and party functionaries at NTR Bhavan here on Wednesday.

The AP CM said that the TDP would fight for the welfare of people in Telangana even though some of its core leaders deserted the party. Chandrababu said he would render support to the party cadre in Telangana state. Following a comment made by a TDP leader from Armoor Assembly constituency that he would end his life if the TDP chief had any plans to merge the party with the ruling TRS, Chandrababu clarified that by any chance he would not merge the TDP with any other political party in Telangana. "No one has right to merge the party," Chandrababu said.

When some of the party functionaries raised slogans demanding that no alliance shall be forged with the TRS in 2019 elections, Chandrababu is learnt to have refused to comment on this issue.

Some of the party functionaries aired their views saying that the functions of TDP in Telangana should be handed over to Jr NTR or to AP minister Nara Lokesh. Reacting to this, the TDP chief reportedly told them that leaders should sustain independently without relying on others.
