‘Chalo Assembly’: 700 held, 78 cases registered

As many as 700 Telangana activists including 45 MLAs, 3 MPs, 3 MLCs have been taken into custody in the city during ‘Chalo Assembly’ programme and 78 cases have been registered.

City police commissioner Anurag Sharma said the agitation went off peacefully except a few sporadic incidents. A student was injured after he was hit by tear gas shell in Osmania University, he said.

About 40 cases were registered in the limits of Cyberabad and 476 persons were arrested, said Cyberabad Police Commissioner Anand. He said elaborate security arrangements were made to prevent untoward incidents.
