Centre to probe Rohit's death

The Union Ministry for Human Resource Development has appointed a two-member committee to probe into the death of  University of Hyderabad's PhD student Rohit.

According to official sources, the team led by Shakila T Shamsu, OSD in the ministry, and comprising another Deputy Secretary level officer Surat Singh, will arrive at Hyderabad on Monday to conduct a probe into the incident and submit a report in two days. Meanwhile, the post-mortem on the body of Rohit was completed at Osmania University and was later shifted to his Uppal Home.
Rohit was among the five research scholars who were suspended by Hyderabad Central University (HCU) in August last year and also one of the accused in the case of assault on a student leader. The suspension was revoked later. The five research scholars were suspended from the hostel for rest of their study period for allegedly attacking an ABVP leader.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya clarified that he was in no way linked to Rohit's suicide. He said he had forwarded a petition that said that ABVP workers were beaten in the University and that anti-national activities were going on in the UoH. This letter has nothing to do with the death of Rohit,he said.
