Central Sahitya Akademi Award For Eminent Journalist Devipriya

Popular Telugu poet and senior journalist Devipriya has been selected for Central Sahitya Akademi for the year 2017. The award has been given for his anthology ''Gali Rangu." Popular writer Veena Vallabha Rao's translation work ''Viramamerugai Payanam'' was chosen for the award in the translation category.

Sheikh Khaza Hussain, popularly known by his nom de plume Devipriya has worked in several Telugu media organisations and wrote scripts for films like Dasi and Rangula Kala. He also officiated as editor for Prajatantra and Hyderabad Mirror. His two-stanza limerick-like poems were stinging comments on contemporary socio-politics. He is also the author of 17 books.
