CBSE Class XII Paper Easiest In Three Years

The Mathematics paper of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 was the easiest in three years, students and teachers across the country said yesterday. Although many felt the paper was lengthy, they had no complaints since the questions were easy to solve. Most questions were from the books prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), barring one or two problems from NCERT books which had changed names and figures.

Some students felt it was a good paper for students who did conceptual studies and followed NCERT books, although a majority of students found difficulty in solving probability questions. The extremely lengthy paper killed a lot of time for many students, many of whom have left one or two questions unanswered. “The paper was extremely lengthy. I missed a six-mark question. It was otherwise easy,” a student from Rajasthan's Jaipur who studied in Kendriya Vidyalaya said.

“I found difficulty in probability questions but overall the paper was a scoring one. All the choice-based questions were of the same difficulty level so I didn’t find any of it much useful,” Ayush Mamhai, a student of Bhopal's Renaissance Public School, said.

“It was a good paper for students who did conceptual studies and followed NCERT books. I am expecting good marks in the paper,” another student added.

'The CBSE class 12 maths paper 2018 was a moderate one. Most of the questions were from NCERT text book and sample papers issued by CBSE. 20% of the paper was very easy, 60% was of average difficulty level and the rest 20% was of higher difficulty level. However none of the questions were so tough that the students would not be able to attempt at all,' said Shalini Gupta, HOD Mathematics, Army Public School, Shanker Vihar.

'There were four sections in the paper. The questions in Section B that carries 2 marks for each question were slightly lengthy but were simple to attempt,' she further added.

This came as a relief to many students in the backdrop of tough question papers in 2016 and 2017.
