CBI Arrests Customs Superintendent While Accepting Rs10 Lakh Bribe

Hyderabad: A superintendent of Central Excise and Customs department here has been arrested by CBI when he was accepting Rs10 lakh bribe from an industrialist on Wednesday.

Superintendent Gopalakrishna is reported to have demanded Rs10 lakh from KM Plastics owner Jagadish to waiver a higher amount of customs duty payable by his company. The CBI sleuths swooped on the office in Basheerbagh when the illegal transaction was taking place in the office itself on Tuesday.

The inspectors of the Katedan industrial area where the plastic company is located and its proprietor Jagadish have also been taken into custody after questioning throughout the day.
