Candlelight Vigil On Necklace Road For Unnao, Kathua Victims
Kathua and Unnao rape cases shook the entire nation and several protests are being staged throughout the nation to punish the rape perpetrators. After the rape of 8-year-old girl in Kathua and 17-year-old girl in Unnao, another incident has been reported in Surat where a 11-year-old girl found dead near a cricket stadium with over 80 injuries.
Demanding justice in all these incidents, a candlelight vigil will be organised today in Hyderabad. The raise your voice campaign will take place at Necklace Road People's Plaza today around 6 pm. The candle-light march will be intensified with the slogans 'Stop Rape Now', 'Hang The Rapists' on placards.
Earlier, TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy also staged a candle light protest at Necklace Road against the Kathua and Unnao rape cases.
The Indian government also issued an Ordinance to award death penalty for the child rapists on Saturday. Against the backdrop of outrage over the incidents of rape of minors in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao and Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua, the government plans to bring the ordinance to amend the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The death penalty will be awarded to those convicted of raping a child up to 12 years of age.
