Can Kiran govt survive the no-confidence motion?
Speaker Nadendla Manohar on Thursday accepted the no-confidence motion put forward by the Telangana Rastra Samithi against the Congress government. 45 MLAs from the several parties supported the motion.
The required number to call a no-trust vote is 30.
Soon after the acceptance of the motion, the speaker adjourned the House to convene a special meeting to discuss the date and time for the motion.
The speaker said that the no-trust motions moved by both the TRS and the YSR Congress parties were valid, but TRS' motion will come up for discussion first.
The parties that supported the no-trust vote against the congress and their numbers are:
- TRS-17
- YSRCP-17
- BJP-3
- CPI-03
- CPI (M) -01
- Lok Satta Party -01
- 2 Independent MLAs Nagam Janardhan Reddy and Somarapu Satyanarayana.
TDP MLA Harishwar Reddy violated his party chief's direction not to support the no-confidence motion and backed the no-confidence motion. The meeting on the no-trust vote is expected to begin from 11.30 am.
