C.V Anand dismisses allegations of police excesses at HCU
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Police Commissioner C.V Anand, on Monday handed over his report on the alleged police excesses at the HCU on March 22, to the State Human Rights Commission.
In the report, Anand dismissed allegations of police excess at the Hyderabad Central University and claimed that only women police officers handled the women agitators and that there were no incidents of misconduct towards any women.
Recounting the March 22 incident on HCU campus, Commissioner Anand stated in his report that the students had assembled there to vandalise the Vice Chancellor P. Appa Rao's residence on the campus and they also threw stones at the police. As a result the police was left with no other option but to lathi-charge them, he said.
