Bouquets and brickbats

This Budget is yet again devoted to the well-being of the villages, farmers and the poor. The Budget reflects commitment to eliminate corruption and black money.

Narendra Modi, Prime Minister.

The thrust in budget is stimulating growth, affordable housing, curbing black money, promoting digital economy, bringing transparency in political funding.

Arun Jaitley, Union Finance Minister

We were expecting fireworks, instead it was a damp squib. It is just 'sher-o shayari' in the budget. There is nothing for farmers and youth and nothing for job creation. There is no clear vision.

Rahul Gandhi, Congress vice-president

A controversial Budget, which is clueless, useless, baseless, missionless and actionless. Heartless No roadmap for the country or the future from a government that has lost all its credibility.

Mamatha Banerjee, Bengal Chief Minister

The Budget is the result of a comprehensively, proactively functioning government. India is in safe hands and we are grateful.

Kiran Bedi, Puduchherry Lt. Governor

It is a revolutionary one and it will benefit the farmers. It will bring transformation. It will take us on the path of good governance and clean political system.

Ananth Kumar, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Chemical and Fertilizers.
