Focus on Education
Education is a focal area of this year's budget presented by Union Minister for Finance Arun Jaitley. The following are the major initiatives proposed in the Budget 2017:
- National Testing agency to conduct all examinations in higher education, freeing CBSE and other agencies
- Innovation Fund in high schools announced; revised framework coming soon for outcome-based accreditation for colleges
- In higher education, we will undertake reforms in UGC, give autonomy to colleges and institutions
- 350 online classes for students to be introduced on an experimental basis.
- New entrance and admission system for higher education.
- Sankalp skill development scheme for youth gets an allocation of Rs 4000 crore.
