B.Tech Student Held For Threatening Classmate To Post Morphed Images On Facebook

Hyderabad: A 19-year-old engineering student was arrested on Wednesday for harassing his classmate by creating her fake profile on Facebook and threatening her that he would post her morphed pictures on it. The accused K Sai Ram Kumar is a student of an engineering college in Sheriguda, Ibrahimpatnam.

According to Cyberabad East Police, the complainant avoided him because of his rude behavior. Insulted Kumar then created a fake Facebook profile in the victim’s name using her photographs to trouble her.

During interrogation, Kumar confessed that he had created fake Facebook profile posing as a girl and befriended several female students with an intention to blackmail them after gathering their details

“He also used to exert pressure on the girl by asking her to share her nude pictures and threatened that he would post her morphed images and videos on Facebook,” said a police official.

The accused, who was arrested from Meerpet in the city was booked under IPC sections 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), among others.

During interrogation, Kumar confessed that he had created fake Facebook profile posing as a girl and befriended several female students with an intention to blackmail them after gathering their details.
