‘Enlightened’ Bridegroom Returns To Marriage Venue

Anantapur: A man ran away hours before his marriage but returned to marry the girl who was seriously upset over his disappearance.

The incident took place in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh on March 2 when the groom disappeared creating tense moments among relatives and friends at the marriage venue. Unable to trace him the bride’s family lodged a police complaint after the boy's family acknowledged that they did not know about his whereabouts. However, an ‘enlightened’ bridegroom returned on March 6, four days after the scheduled marriage date.

Ravikumar, who is the youngest son of late Hanumantha Rayappa and Narsamma. He was to marry Asha, who is the daughter of Lakkamma Govinda Raju. They were engaged on February 9 and the marriage date was set on March 2 at Rolla Lakshmi Narasimha Swami Temple. On the day of marriage Ravikumar ran away on a motorbike in the wee hours.

However, after giving sleepless nights to the families on both sides, the groom realized his mistake and came back home. The marriage was duly performed on Monday night in Rolla Anjaneya Swami temple in Anantapur.
