Bride, Groom Flee Marriage Just Before Ceremony

Kolar: In an unusual incident, the bride and the groom disappeared separately, hours before their marriage in Kolar district of Karnataka on Sunday. According to details available, the groom identified as Guresh of Chinnakallu village and bride, Soumya of Nernahalli village in Bangarpet taluk, were to tie the knot at Padmavati function hall here.

However, a formal engagement was scheduled for Saturday evening at the same venue. While the families from both sides had made all the arrangements for the engagement and marriage, the bride Soumya escaped from the function hall on Saturday evening just before the function. Till late into the night, the bride and their family did not turn up at the venue leaving the groom's family in confusion. The anxious family members decided to perform the marriage of Guresh with Soumya's cousin Venkatratnamma at the same hall and same muhurat.

Even as everyone thought all was well, Guresh went missing on Sunday morning. He escaped just hours before the marriage by saying that he would style himself at the barber shop and return. Later, they understood that the groom had escaped. All the relatives had come for the marriage, had to return disappointed.
