Hyderabad: Brace for double jail term if you drink and drive during the day in Hyderabad.

The magistrates have in principle agreed to the proposal of Hyderabad traffic police who have pleaded with the magistrates to double the prison term of the motorists who are found to be driving under the influence of alcohol during the day.

The traffic police argued that drunken driving can cause more damage during the day as there are more people on the roads compared to night.

“For example, if a motorist is being sentenced to a week’s imprisonment for drunken driving at night, it would be two weeks or even more for being booked during the day,” a Deccan Chronicle report said quoting deputy commissioner of police (Traffic) A.V. Ranganath.
