A school boy drowned on Friday in a canal here while three other teenagers were missing after they entered the water for a swim in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. The incident took place at Vishanadhapalli village when the boys went to Krishna river and were swept away by the heavy currents, Avanigadda DSP Khadar Basha said.

The victims, studying in Class IX and X, had come to the village with their families to attend Addanki Nancharamma festival. The deceased student, whose body was fished out with the help of local fishermen and divers, was identified as Nagaraju. Three others -- Jayakrishna Srikanth and Pawan -- are still missing and are feared to have drowned. All the four belong to Suddhapalli village in Guntur district. Search operations to trace the missing trio are underway.
