Telangana’s state festival ‘Bonalu’ commenced on a grand note at Golconda fort on Thursday.

Hyderabad: Telangana’s state festival ‘Bonalu’ commenced on a grand note at Golconda fort on Thursday. Telangana Endowment Minister Indrakaran Reddy, Hyderabad Mayor Bontu Rammohan and T Srinivas Yadav, Minister for the animal husbandry, fisheries and the dairy development, participated in a welcoming ceremony (edurkolu).

Telangana people worship Goddess Mahakali by offering bonalu and this is an annual festival in the month of Ashada Masam during July-August. The city police have made security arrangements on the ways from Banjara Darwaj, Fateh Darwaj leading to the Golconda fort.

Laldarwaja Simhavahini Mahakali Temple committee members will celebrate bonalu festival in New Delhi. The committee President C Rajkumar Yadav along with 100 devotees will participate in bonalu festival in New Delhi. Union Ministers Bandaru Dattatreya, Sushma Swaraj and MP Kavita will participate in the bonalu in Delhi.

The committee will invite President and Prime Minister to participate in the Bonalu festival.
