Black Day protest observed peacefully across the City
Except for one untoward incident, Friday prayers in the city went on peacefully, in spite of the 'Black Day' call given by those protesting against the demolition of Babri Masjid. According to reports, two policemen and a fire services personnel was injured when protesters pelted stones at Charminar's Mecca Masjid.
City Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma imposed prohibitory orders in city limits in view of 'Black Day', planned to observe the 21st anniversary of demolition of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya.
Hundreds of police personnel were deployed at Mecca Masjid and numerous other mosques in Hyderabad. Central Force was deployed in sensitive areas to ensure peace and several bomb detecting and disposal squads were pressed into service.
Police pickets were deployed in sensitive areas like Old City, and Sutan Shahi.
At least two policemen and a fire services personnel was injured in stone pelting by protestors at the Mecca Masjid near Charminar following the Friday prayers.
The day is being observed as Black Day by several organisations to protest against the demolition of Babri Masjid in the city.
