BJP Sweeps Delhi Municipal Corporation Polls, AAP Blames EVMs
New Delhi: Riding high on the success in recent Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and three other states, the BJP defeated the ruling AAP and the Congress in Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections on Wednesday.
According to latest reports, the BJP has won 181 seats while the AAP managed to win 46 wards. The Congress bagged 31 wards. And others took 12 seats in all the three civic bodies in Delhi.
Meanwhile, the AAP blamed EVMs for the BJP's victory. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia tweeted saying that the MCD results are not Modi wave rather it is "EVMs wave".
Soon after the results Congress leader Ajay Maken resigned from his post after some of his colleagues held him responsible for the Congress defeat.
Speaking to media persons soon after putting his papers, Maken said he would continue to work as an ordinary worker.
