BJP leaders eye TTD pie
The BJP leaders in Andhra Pradesh are lobbying hard for the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). chairperson's post.
The term of present chairman Kanumuri Bapiraju will end in August this year. With the TDP coming to power, he should have resigned from his post. But, he is requesting the state government not to pressurize him to resign till the end of his term.
Now, the BJP leaders in the state have started their lobbying for the post using the good offices of their senior leaders and union ministers in New Delhi.
At present, BJP has four MLAs and one MP in Andhra Pradesh. Tadepalligudem MLA P.Manikyala Rao is the Minister for Endowments in Chandrababu Naidu Cabinet. The BJP leaders are arguing that the top post in TTD must be given to them as their leader got the endowments portfolio in the state cabinet.
Several TDP leaders are also trying for the post. Some senior leaders from TDP are pressurizing their leader for the post.
With both vying for the TTD pie, it remains to be seen how the chief minister would address the issue.
