Bhogi with a difference in Tulluru

Bhogi is an occasion to rejoice and warm oneself up amid bonfires. But for the villages that would become part of the AP's new capital city, Bhogi is anything but merriment.

In several villages, including Tullur, the people have lit bonfires in protest against the government's attempt to take away their lands. As a mark of protest, several women have drawn rangolis in the front-yards of their homes opposing land-pooling. This innovative protest has drawn the attention of the people.
Recently, farmers of Tullur have put up boards in their fields voicing their opposition to the land-pooling.
Several farmers from the villages in the proposed capital area met YSRCP chief YS Jagan recently to pour out their woes. They also lodged a complaint with the SHRC alleging that police have been harassing the farmers who are refusing to part with their lands.
