Bhogi Celebrated with Pomp in AP, Telangana

Hyderabad: Bhogi, the first day of the three-day Sankranti festival, is being celebrated in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with traditional Bhogi fire from the early hours on Thursday.People returned to their respective native places to celebrate the festival with families. The harvesting festival is celebrated with much pomp in the coastal districts in AP. Despite a strict ban on cockfights, the traditional game was conducted in several villages in East Godavari district.

Bhogi fire was lit in colonies and junctions in Hyderabad. MP Kavitha participated in a Bhogi fire celebration in the early hours at KBR Park in the city. Malaysian township residents celebrated the festival with much pomp and gaiety.
