Betting on Ind-Aus macth: Seven held in Hyderbad

Hyderabad: Police on Thursday arrested seven persons from different places in Hyderabad who were allegedly placing bets on the World Cup semi-final cricket match between India and Australia.

Police acting on credible information, arranged special teams much prior to the matches. According to note released by Addl.DCP (task force) Koti "sleuths of Commissioner's Task Force (South and East Zone) conducted raids at places under Charminar, Bahadurpura and Malakpet Police Station limits and apprehended them. They were found placing bets and collecting amounts from punters. Cash of Rs 2 lakh and items used in betting were also seized"
