Befriends Through Facebook, Later Blackmails For Ransom
Kakinada: A person in the name of love over the Facebook has trapped numerous girls who are studying and has cheated them for money, gold and two-wheelers. The Sarpavaram police arrested him yesterday here, told the startling details of his operations.
According to the police, Swamireddi Srinivasa Rao (28), native of Uppada village, is studying LLB in Kakinada's Rajiv Gandhi Law College. In the name of love over the Facebook, he traps girls who are studying medicine, engineering and agricultural BSc as well as young working women. After acquaintance with them, then he starts blackmailing and even threatening the girls to give money, gold jewellery and motorcycles.
He gets introduced to the girls over the Facebook in the fake name of Shalini Kusireddi, doing his MBBS at Rangaraya Medical College. Later after getting to know them very well he discloses his real name and harasses the girls to love him. He also has been saying that he plans to construct a hospital at the cost of Rs 1-2 crores.
Kakinada DCP mentioned that Srinivasa Rao was harassing girls to marry him or be in relationship with him. If these two were not accepted by them, he tortured the girls to shell out huge amounts of money and gold. The culprit threatened to post morphed photos of the girls on the social media if they did not budge to his demands.
In this fashion Srinivasa Rao had trapped a girl studying MBBS final year at Andhra Medical College in Amalapuram and another girl studying second year at medicine KIMS, the DCP said. Blackmailing the girls he started extracting money. He fleeced Rs 10,000 from KIMS student, Rs 80,000, a golden bracelet and ring from JNTUK student. He also blackmailed an IOCL employee in Visakhapatnam and fleeced Rs 18,000 from her. He even took two-wheelers from these girls.
As if these were not enough, he has trapped a minor girl in Visakhapatnam and is now blackmailing that he would post her nude videos on social media or else pay him a huge ransom. The police have arrested him and presented him at the court in Kakinada.
