Bar owners asked to provide paid drivers to drunk customers for dropping them home

Hyderabad: With the rise of drunk driving cases in the city the traffic police have asked bar owners in Cyberabad limits to arrange cab services to drop their customers back home.

“Many drivers are jobless, in fact bar owners can employ them to avoid the deadly drunk driving accidents and the drivers should be paid by customers,” said a traffic inspector.

Bar owners cannot afford to be indifferent for long. If an accident takes place near a bar and it is found that the culprit had consumed alcohol in it, we will even make the bar owner responsible for the crime

Although there is no such rule making the bars to follow this, police have been asking the managements to designate a few drivers as a social responsibility on the part of bar managements.

Banners are placed at all the bars by the Cyberabad traffic police reminding the bar owners of their duty.

However, not many bar owners are willing to follow the police advice.
