Bank Staff Locked In By Irate Customers

Muzaffarnagar: In what could a sign of things to come, unless the government does a lot more to ease the precarious cash-strapped-situation that is being witnessed all over the country, customers who waited long hours to withdraw cash in a bank, eventually lost their cool and locked up the employees in the bank.

Staff of Punjab National bank's branch in Miranpur town were allegedly confined in their office by customers who reported inordinate delay in withdrawal of cash, police said on Saturday.

The customers were angry over alleged delay in withdrawal of cash, police said, adding on receiving information a police team rushed to the spot and freed the staff after breaking the lock.

A case has been registered against unidentified persons, police added.
