In what could be a relief to Bengaluru’s traffic woes, the much-awaited Heli Taxi service is set to begin sometime next week. Thumby Aviation, which operates the service in the city, are reportedly ready with all the required permissions. The service route is from Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) to Electronic City, Phase 1, and to HAL Airport. The Bell 407 helicopters are going to cut travel time to a great deal.

The Taxi service is set to work in two shifts, and they are reportedly scheduled to run in peak office hours. The helicopters would rum three round trips between KIA and Electronic City. The shifts range from 6:30 am to 9:30 am, and then three more rounds from 3:00 pm to 6:15 pm. The Bell 407 Helipcopter can fit a maximum of six people.

The service can be availed at Rs. 3,500 per seat. Inclusive of GST, the fare would be Rs. 4,130 per seat. The service also includes pick up from the airport terminal to the helipad. A luggage of up to 15 kg is allowed free of cost, if weighed more, the service would charge accordingly.

Booking the taxi is not a big deal. It can be book through their mobile app, Heli Taxii, which is available both on Android and iOS. The passenger can choose “FlyNow” or “Fly Later” options, and select the flight accordingly. The pick-up and drop addresses can be filled in so that the service will reach the passenger. Luggage information can be added, before selecting the seats and making the payment.

To improve the city residents’ access, the government is also planning to launch around 90 such helipads all around the city.
