Bandh call in Tirupathi successful, says Congress - Sakshi Post

Tirupathi: Congress on Monday claimed that the bandh call given by following one of its cadres Koti’s self-immolation for the cause of special status for Andhra Pradesh, has been successful.

The CPI, CPI (M) and several other organizations have also extended their support for the bandh.

Prominent local leaders of Congress, CPI and CPI (M) were found to be in the thick of the action right from 6 o’clock in the morning in order to make sure the bandh was successful.

Protests were staged at the RTC Bus stand, Purnakunbmha Circle and the Municipal office. Several rallies were also carried out in important parts of the town against the ruling party. Traffic at Purnakumbha Circle came to a grinding halt for almost an hour due to the bandh call.

Tirupathi chamber of Commerce officials and student JAC were also among those who extended their support for the bandh.

Private and government run educational institutions were shut down. Shops and other business organizations remained closed for the whole day.
Ex MP Chinta Mohan, local leaders Naga Bhushanam, Srinivasulu, S. Kumar, Sri Devi and others were among those who took an active part in the bandh.
