Bald and Beautiful Way of Creating Environment Awareness
Bhopal: This minister sure knows how to teach rural masses! He uses innovative teaching techniques to explain the importance of growing trees. Meet Antar Singh Arya, the environment minister of Madhya Pradesh.
He sure does not believe in weighty lectures. He uses ‘live’ example to put across his point. On Thursday, he went to Sendhwa, a village in his constituency. He called two men - one bald and other with hair on his head - onto the stage and poured water over the heads of both. Then he aked the people as to whose head is wet. At this the villagers said in unison that the bald head wasn’t wet as there is no hair and hair on the other man’s head ensured that his head remains damp.
The message was not on anyone in the crowd. Land with trees and vegetation will hold water and barren land can’t hold water. He wrapped up his experiment saying,
“Conserve rainwater by planting trees.” Interestingly, the minister himself is bald and had conducted the experiment several times on himself. The minister is a staunch crusader for water conservation.
