Legendary director K. Balachander passes away
Ace director and producer K Balachander (84), who was hospitalized due to indisposition recently, breathed his last on Tuesday.
Balachander, who directed nearly 150 films, complained of serious illness and was rushed to a nearby private hospital in Chennai where he was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). The Padma Sri awardee gave Cine-World fine works which can never be remade. He was instrumental in bringing talents like Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Saritha, Sujatha, Janaki and Prakash Raj to the industry.
On Monday, Rajinikanth, Mohan Raman, Khushbu and a few other actors rushed to the hospital after learning about the filmmaker’s health condition. “I wish he wakes up and joins us soon.” Said Kamal who spoke to his Guru over phone. Haasan and Balachander have worked together in over 40 films.
