Baby girl found abandoned in a drain

A newly born baby girl was found abandoned in a drain at Chilakaluripeta in Guntur district on Thursday.

The passersby heard the baby crying in the morning and reported it to the local police. The police reached the spot and took the custody of the baby who was wrapped in a piece of cloth and shifted the baby to district hospital for treatment.

Police suspect that the mother of the baby is from the surrounding area and are now looking for her. They are checking records of nearby hospitals to find details of the deliveries that took place recently. It is said that the abandoned baby is just a one-day-old.
