Babu's flip-flop: Farm loan 'Vimukti' not waiver
Unable to keep up his word on farm loan waiver, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister on Thursday tried to put the blame on Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Central government for it.
Addressing a gathering in Vijayawada, Chandrababu said " I am not waiving off loans, I am doing 'Vimukti'." He said that he had never talked of loan waiver. He had only talked of 'liberating' the people from loans.
The TDP supremo tried to put the blame on RBI and Centre by saying RBI has not agreed for the loan waiver. He also said that the Central government has not come into their aid.
After a four hour marathon cabinet meeting yesterday, Chandrababu's government had decided to waive 20 per cent crop loans in the first phase and remaining 80% would be waived in five installments over a four-year period.
The main opposition party, YSRCP ridiculed Chandrababu for his failure to ensure complete waiver of crop loans.
Lakhs of farmers in the state have pinned hopes on loan waiver but after taking over the reins Chandrababu ignored their plight.
