Autorickshaw driver held for raping woman passenger in Kurnool
Hyderabad: An autorickshaw driver was on Wednesday arrested for allegedly raping a female passenger and attempting to sexually assault three other women in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district, police said.
An offence was also registered against him for alleged theft of autorickshaws, they said.
The accused identified as M Ravi used to take women passengers in his autorickshaw to isolated places in Kurnool town and where he tried to rape them on some occasions last month. He also allegedly sexually assaulted a woman on one such occasion, Kurnool III-Town police station inspector Pravin Kumar said.
The accused was facing seven cases, registered during the course of last month, including that of rape and attempt to rape, and was also booked for stealing three autorickshaws, the police officer said. A probe was on in connection with the offences against the accused.
