Auto driver, friend misbehave with woman, beaten up by locals
Koppavaram, An auto driver and his friend was beaten up by villagers in Anaparthi, on Friday after they misbehaved and tried sexually assaulting a woman passenger.
According to reports the lady in question was travelling in the auto with her husband and child, when the incident took place. The family was travelling to Koppavaran in Anaparthi village to attend a prayer meeting. They reached there midnight, and took an auto.
The auto driver, Gangi Reddy, hailing from Duppulapudi was accompanied by another driver Chitturu Shivaji Reddy. In the middle of the journey, Gangi asked Shivaji to take over driving, and he turned round and started misbehaving with the woman. The duo then went on to stop next to a graveyard and dragged her out of the auto.
The husband meanwhile stayed in the auto as he was afraid that the miscreants would attack their child. He tried, on the sly, to call his relatives but nobody was picking the calls as it was midnight.
The hooligans, reeling under the influence of alcohol also forced the husband to show them a deserted place. The husband, scared for the safety of his child, took the drivers to a rice mill where he used to work earlier.
The drivers were planning their next move, when the husband managed to get through to his friends. His friends soon reached the spot on being notified.
After reaching the mill, they brought them to Koppavaram, removed the drivers' clothes and beat them up. Local women as well as villagers beat up the erring duo, black and blue.
