Attention Diversion Gang Held, Booty Worth Rs 20 Lakh Seized
Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police arrested four members of an inter-state gang involved in robbery by diverting attention of their targets.
The accused were nabbed on Monday with the help of CCTV camera footage at AS Rao Nagar. Rs 20 lakh worth stolen booty was recovered from their possession.
In the past three years the gang had committed 37 attention diversion offences, said Rachakonda commissioner Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat.
Elaborating on their modus operandi the police official said that they used women from their families and asked them do the recce of the surrounding areas and then targeted the victims
The gang from Chittoor district is famous as the Nagari gang or OG Kuppam gang and had decamped with property worth more than Rs 1 crore.

“The gang has been active since 2014 and their main targets were banks and registration offices where people carry huge amounts of cash,” said Bhagwat.
In the latest Kushaiguda case, the gang followed victim for about 12 km and then robbed Rs 14 lakh from him. However with the help of CCTV footage the accused were nabbed, adding that further investigation is on to nab 10 associates of the arrested persons who were absconding and a manhunt was launched to nab them
The accused are P Suresh (24), K Gopi (41), P Shiva (38), and Gokul Das (40).
