Assaulted And Humiliated For ‘Misbehaviour’, Young Purohit Commits Suicide
Hyderabad: Taking umbrage at the public humiliation and being assaulted by members of his residential society for allegedly misbehaving with a woman on Sunday, a priest at Sri Narayana Kshetram temple at Padma Nagar Phase II, ended his life at his home on Monday at Chintal under Petbasheerabad police station limits.
The 25-year-old Bhaskar Krishna Swaroop’s family members lodged a complaint seeking justice for the abatement of suicide. The complaint stated that elders of his colony confronted Swaroop for allegedly misbehaving with a woman from the neighbourhood and forced him to remove the ‘Bhavani Mala’ after assaulting him despite his father pleading them not to do so, said Petbasheerabad Inspector D V Ranga Reddy.
Swaroop wrote that he could neither be a good son nor a good priest. He told sorry to his father for not letting him live with honour. He wrote he was going to leave the world and meet Sweta.
Police said Swaroop left a suicide letter addressing his father saying sorry to him for damaging his reputation. “Swaroop wrote that he could neither be a good son nor a good priest. He told sorry to his father for not letting him live with honour. He wrote he was going to leave the world and meet Sweta,“ police said, quoting the note. Police were yet to ascertain who Sweta was.
The family members and friends of the suicide staged a protest at Petbasheerabad police station demanding immediate arrest of the accused.
