ASI Monuments Declared Polythene Free Zones

Telangana has seven monuments in the ASI’s Hyderabad circle - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: The use of polythene bags near Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) monuments has been prohibited declaring them 'polythene free zones'.

Minister of state for tourism and culture Mahesh Sharma said in a press release that the ban on the use of polythene near monuments comes into immediate effect.

Rs 350 crore have been sanctioned for toilets, disabled friendly access and protected boundaries at all ASI monuments

Up to 300 meters from boundaries of monuments should be made polythene free.

Nearly 137 monuments are there in the ASI's Hyderabad circle. And only seven are there in Telangana including Charminar and Golconda.

"Rs 350 crore have been sanctioned for toilets, disabled friendly access and protected boundaries at all ASI monuments,” said Sharma.

The informative was out on Thursday as Sharma briefed media persons n the various initiatives during Swachhata Pakhwada from 16th - 30th September.
