Army Major Arrested In RJ Wife’s Suicide Case, Family Alleges Dowry Harassment
Hyderabad: An Army Major was arrested on Wednesday on charges of dowry harassment leading to his radio jockey wife Sandhya Singh who committed suicide at the Army Quarters in Bolarum on April 18. The accused Vaibhav Vishal has been sent to a 14-day judicial remand after he was produced in a local court. Military officials told police that he was fit and would be handed over to Bolarum Inspector.

The 30-year-old woman was found hanging at her residence by her husband, who then alerted the police. Police didn't find a suicide note. A dowry harassment case was filed by victim's sister Uma Singh. It was a love marriage and victim's sister alleged that her in-laws demanded additional dowry and harassed her.
"Sandhya ended her life due to dowry harassment by Vaibhav Vishal, his mother Asha Singh and his sister Khushi alias Megha Rai," said B. Sumathi, North Zone DCP.
Sandhya is a native of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh who belongs to SC community got married to Vaibhav a year and a half ago. Vaibhav is working with 54th Infantry Division in Secunderabad.
A case under sections 304 (b) of IPC (dowry death) and the SC/S T (Prevention of Atrocities) Act has been filed.
