Arch rivals TDP, Cong to join hands for MLC polls - Sakshi Post

Enemy's enemy is a friend. Nowhere is it truer than in politics. The political equations are changing. Rivals for decades, the TDP and the Congress are planning to come together to take on common enemy, the TRS in Telangana. Both the parties have proposed to work together for the upcoming local body MLA polls.

The election commission has issued the notification for the MLC polls on December 2. As many as 12 MLCs would be elected and the TRS is planning to win all of them. Not to be outdone, the opposition parties, which received the worst drubbing in Warangal Lok Sabha bypoll, have begun contemplating new alliances.
The overture came from the TDP leaders. TTDP leader Errabelli Dayakar met TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday and made these proposals. The TTDP argued that by fighting in alliance, they can defeat the TRS in Mahabubnagar and Rangareddy.
The nominations for the MLC elections would end on December 9 and the polling would be held on December 27. Two seats each in Karimnagar, Rangareddy and Mahabubnagar and one each in Adilabad, Nizamabad, Medak, Nalgonda, Warangal and Khammam will go to the polls.
The TDP leaders argued that if Congress and the TDP join hands, they can win one seat each in Rangareddy and Mahabubnagar and wanted the Congress to support the TDP in Mahabubnagar. But, the hitch is that the Mahabubnagar Congress leaders have rejected the proposal outright. Left with no option, the leaders of both the parties have decided to meet again on Tuesday.
